UPDATE

'30 Rock' actor Alec Baldwin has been allowed to fly on the 3PM (PST) flight. He tweeted: "Now on the 3 o'clock American flight. The flight attendants already look.....smarter."

UPDATE ENDS

Shortly after the story broke, Baldwin offered an explanation via the social networking site, tweeting: "Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt [sic]".

In protest over being kicked off, Baldwin tweeted: "#theresalwaysunited", referring to American Airlines' rival airline, United Airlines.

"But, oddly, 30 Rock plays inflight on American. #theresalwaysunited[sic]" the actor quipped.

Words With Friends is an iPhone and Android phone application, where users play virtual scrabble against their chosen friends.

The story broke via Twitter this morning after Michael J Wolf, founder of Activate, tweeted: "On an AA flight at LAX. Alec Baldwin removed from the plane We had to go back to the gate. Terrible that everyone had to wait [sic]".

Baldwin has worked hard to restore his reputation in Hollywood after a bitter custody battle with ex-wife Kim Basinger, involving their daughter, Ireland.

In 2007, a voice mail was made public in which Alec called his daughter a "rude, thoughtless little pig" after she failed to answer the phone for a scheduled call with her father. He later publicly apologised over the incident, saying: "I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened."

basically what they need on planes and aircraft are poker machines. This would help the government raise revenue and everyone would be kept busy whilst losing their pay cheque on every flight. I think this would be great if Julia Gillard brought this in on all Australian flights as soon as possible. maybe they can also repent their sins to Alec and God.
