ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: 'MY MOTHER THOUGHT I WAS GAY'

It might seem like a natural mother's suspicion if your son has posters of oiled up men wearing tiny briefs on his bedroom wall that he might like boys. Unless of course he's a body builder. Or just has a fine appreciation for the male form.

Apparently such was the case in the Schwarzenegger household when Arnie was a youngster -- what with his body building aspirations -- so much so that his mother called their GP, asking him if her son had "turned south".

A recent interview with the 'Terminator' star to promote '30 From 30 Shots' short film series revealed Arnold's mother's early anxiety over his obsession with body builders, telling reporters: "My mother was always worried because she saw the pictures on my bedroom wall of naked men oiled up."

He continued: "So she called the house doctor and said, 'Is there something wrong? Is my son turning south here? All his friends have girls on the wall and he has only men oiled up with little briefs on.'"

While his mother had her suspicions about his sexuality, Arnie revealed that his father had different concerns entirely about the way his son was using his body.

A local police chief in their Austraian hometown of Thal, Arnie said that his father, Gustav, thought that he was over doing it. 'He told me: "You gotta be useful, and building your body, you're just building it for yourself, but you're not really doing anything.

'"Why don't you go out and chop wood and shovel coal or do something that you can be useful?"'

Useful or not, Arnie went on to win the Mr. Universe title four times, and Mr. Olympia seven times.
