A man who was deemed a "credible threat" and convicted of stalking Rihanna (and whom spent 277 days in jail for the offence) has apologised for his actions.

TMZ.com reports that Zentil Vanzellas showed up to her Los Angeles home, scaring the 'We Found Love' singer at the time.

According to court records, Rihanna had reason to fear him, and Vanzellas was deemed a "credible threat". He plead no contest to allegations that he was harassing the pop star and was convicted of stalking Rihanna in 2010.

Vanzellas was sentenced to 365 days in jail -- but was out after in June 2011 after serving 277 days. The pair both live in Los Angeles.

When contacted by TMZ, Vanzellas said he was "sorry" for the trouble he caused and would be staying away from the singer.

Calls to Rihanna's reps haven't been returned.
